Hope FC Appoints Clayton Daniels as Head Coach
Hope FC, the newly promoted side in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, have made a significant move by appointing former SuperSport United and Ajax Cape Town defender Clayton Daniels as their head coach for the upcoming season. The club parted ways with Dylan Deane, who had been at the helm during their successful promotion campaign from the ABC Motsepe League.
Daniels has taken charge of Hope’s pre-season preparations and is expected to lead the team in their inaugural Championship match next weekend. The former player-coach will now focus solely on his coaching responsibilities as the club transitions into the second tier of South African football.
Preparing for the Motsepe Foundation Championship
To ensure a smooth transition, Hope FC are relying on a group of experienced players to provide leadership and guidance. Craig Martin, Miguel Timm, and Ruzaigh Gamildien are among those expected to take on crucial roles in the squad. The club is also set to announce the signing of Siyabonga Nhlapo, an experienced midfielder who previously played for Bidvest Wits and SuperSport United.
Nhlapo’s arrival will add further depth and experience to a squad preparing for a significant step up after their promotion from the ABC Motsepe League. Hope FC’s opening fixture is scheduled against University of Pretoria on 22 August, with the game expected to take place at Athlone Stadium. This match will be crucial as it provides Hope with their first opportunity to measure themselves against established opposition in the new league.
