SuperSport United FC strengthens squad despite player exodus
SuperSport United FC manager Lehlohonolo Seema has backed the club's rebuilding efforts after parting ways with key players Ricardo Goss, Neo Rapoo and Gamphani Lungu during the transfer window. Speaking at the Premier Soccer League season launch in Johannesburg, Seema insisted the squad is now stronger in terms of depth and balance.
What changes have been made to the squad?
The Bloemfontein-based club has undergone significant changes, selling several key players while focusing on strengthening the overall squad. Seema stated, "I think I have a better team than I had last season, and when I say better I mean in terms of depth and balance of the squad in all positions. We don't have that big amount of injured players in our squad either."
Why is the relocation to Mangaung important?
Siwelele, who purchased the SuperSport United franchise, was meant to fully relocate to Mangaung this season. However, Seema confirmed a delay, saying, "For me it hasn't really sunk in because the day I see ourselves staying there fully and waking up in Bloemfontein, I'll be very happy. At the moment it's still going to be the same."
How has the constant travel affected the team?
Seema stressed that the constant travel last season robbed them of being more competitive. He said, "Everyone at the club is looking forward to this being formalised." The manager believes the relocation will help the team perform better in the upcoming season.
